Where art thou?

This is my 38th week and my tummy looks like it would pop anytime. Went for my weekly checkup yesterday morning and my dear Gynae said that my baby’s head is fully engaged and it won’t be long now. Mmm, my only concern was that baby now has reached the 3kg mark. May not be such an alarming thing but when I was conceiving Amirul, at 38th week (the week he was delivered), he was only 2.75kg. I was a lil suprised. My ol Gynae once said that it’s better for the baby to put on the weight after he was born (with an indication that it’d be easier to deliver a smaller baby).

But after consulting with my Gynae, and her reassuring me that since my first delivery had no complication, then this time around, it wouldn’t be any different, insya’allah.

So, I am now anxiously waiting for the arrival of my darling bub. I hope the stork would arrive before Raya (this week maybe)to avoid any possible hassle (and also hoping that the baby wouldn’t be too big at delivery …errkk). Baby’s weight increased 0.5kg every week for the past 2 weeks and if this were to continue till next week, ayoyo…

Maybe I worry too much. Insya’allah, I hope to have a smooth delivery and a healthy, perfect baby. I know that Amirul is also eager to welcome his Adik to the world. Darling hubs, neverending touching my tummy, talking to the baby, coaxing him to come out soon. Hehehe. Tak sabar to add on to his footie and golf team lah tu (erm I think you need to wait a lil longer lah dear).

So, all I can do now is wait and enjoy the last days of my pregnancy. I sure am gonna miss this preggie tummy..

All Grown Up

It has been almost a month since my dearest munchkin, Amirul, had his usual ‘nenen’ session. Finally I did it, well we did it. I’m glad that I managed to bf him for 2 years (and 3 months). Honestly, I went cold turkey when I was in my 34th week. Had a minor problem and decided that it was time for him to get off the boobies once and for all. Besides, I know I’ve done a good job all this time, nourishing him with ma goodies :).

It was hard at first, for the first few nights… he cried and cried and only wanted to hang on to me. Pity Abah. What I did was to let him sleep really close to me and let him have the ’smell’. He still cried but after awhile, those cries turned to whimpers and not before long, we found him sound asleep, nicely snuggled up next to me. Thank God. Miraculously, he slept the whole night through and we thought hey, this would be easy.

He still wanted some occassionally but the point is to not respond to his pleas. It’s hard, yes, but it is the best way to make him understand. Besides that, lots of talking to him will also help. In my case, I always mentioned that his Adik is coming out really soon and Amirul has to be a big boy now and show Adik a good example.

However, recently, he came down with a cold and later a fever. Usually, nursing him would be the best medicine (apart from the usual meds) so I caved in and nursed just once (or twice) and alhamdulillah, t’was a quick recovery.

Now that he’s all aware of not having mommy’s goodies anymore, he will playfully snuggle up at me and say ‘Mommy, nenen’. Knowing very well I would look deep into his eyes and say NO. He’d laugh at me and attempt saying it again. Amusing pulak!

I am so proud of my baby (yes, he still is) of his ‘achievement’ and I hope he won’t be jealous with his Adik when the time comes for the latter’s ‘nenen’ session :p
